"No just Jack."

"Well, I started playing with Olivia and her sister Sophia, but then Sophia told me that I should go play with Jack."
"Oh, was Sophia being mean to you?"
"No. She just said that Jack didn't have anyone else to play with so I should go play with him. He was sitting on a rock by himself and I went up to him and asked him if he wanted to play on the slide. So we played on the slide and then the monkey bars."
"Just you and Jack, huh?"
"Yep, just me and Jack."

Honestly, we didn't have the best Halloween. Everyone has been fighting a cold and they moved our Trick or Treat night to Thursday because of the football game. But we still did our best to have fun.

Some of you may remember that this blog was originally titled Mandy is Pregnant. It was actually created by my friend Kevin to let the world know that we were having a baby. Well, that was four and a half years and three kids ago. And now we are happy to announce that we will be adding one more person to our family. Yes, Mandy is again pregnant with a due date of late January 2010. That child will be one and half years younger than Big O, three and a half years younger than Hank and four and a half from Mo. Everyone is doing well and quite happy about having another friend. Although, I have already been informed that Mo does not want another brother!

First of all, I realize that the album And Then There Were Three by Genesis was a title that came about because they lost one member of their band (Peter Gabriel) and became a trio. In this case, however, the title of this post deals with the addition of a member of our family. For those of you that may have not heard, we are expecting another child. We do not have an actual due date yet, but some time in July is most likely.

This blog was originally created by my friend Kevin to emphasize the horrible way in which we announced the first pregnancy. Honestly, we didn't do much better with the second. However, most of the people that were upset regarding those first two should already know this current information. If you are not one of those people, go ahead and send some nasty email. I can take it.

Either way, I am very much looking forward to meeting my next kid. I can only hope that he or she will be better behaved than the first two. As you can see below, they are a terror.

And Happy Opening Day! We have started a new holiday for our family called Baseballius. It will take place every spring on Opening Day. The children will receive candy, toys, baseball cards and peanuts in their baseball gloves hidden by the San Diego Chicken. We decorate the house with different baseball items to celebrate the coming of the first pitch. Then we have a feast of Hot Dogs, Cracker Jacks, Cotton Candy and Root Beer during the first game.

As you can see Morgan is doing great. She'll be 7 weeks old on Saturday and loving it. Last night she attended her first baseball game. Tonight she's going to her first concert. Morgan was born Saturday morning, June 4th at about 9:15 AM. She weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 19.5 inches in length. Everything about her health has been perfect.

Both the mother and baby are wonderful, and I'm feeling pretty wonderful myself.

Obviously, I haven't put anything up on this blog in a while. But we are getting close so I though I would re-acquaint everyone with the site. I plan on putting the first pictures of Morgan on this site. Apparently, I'll have high speed access in the delivery room. Isn't the internet great?!?!

Everything is going great. Mandy is full term and she's ready to go. However, it appears Morgan would like to stay inside for a little longer. The official due date is June 4th.

As you can see in the picture below, Mandy is keeping busy. It may be nesting, but I'm just happy to have a clean kitchen floor. Notice the bare feet!

The Truth

OK, so I created this blog as a joke and then promptly turned it over to Jim in hopes he would keep us apprised of the pregnancy.

That worked out pretty well, huh? Well, as you can see below, Mandy and the baby are doing just fine. They even have a name picked out for her Morgan Lea. But I am getting ahead of myself.

But since Jim was not posting regularly, I asked permission to do so. Here was his response to me: “Yes. Just bear in mind that I know my parents, in-laws and various other relatives go to the blog. So keep it in your pants.”

Now without wondering aloud what exactly that means, I will note that I am counting on the fact that the entire family reads this blog.

I have a little story to tell. The truth must come out. And it all starts with Mike Armbruster’s dog, Cambi.

Let’s be honest, the dog was a yapper and a pain in the arse. No one did anything with the dog other than defend themselves. That all changed one day back in the late 1980's.

Mike came home drunk one night and puked in his bed. He blamed it on the dog. He got away with it. Cambi went from being a dog to being a convenient excuse...and the butt of many jokes thereafter:

“Cambi put that Playboy under my mattress.”
“Cambi flunked the test. Not me.”
"When did that dog take up smoking?" Yes, even Carl appreciated Cambi at times. Like Father, like Son.

This went on and on in a way only immature high school friends can beat a joke to death.

Well, I am here to tell you, I was Jim’s Cambi. As best I can remember, there were about three things I did wrong at the Humberts that are worthy of even discussing. Spilling red wine in the back of Mrs. Humbert’s Audi is probably at the top of that list (on the floor, tan interior). And in that case, it was due to my choice of a wine skin over a bottle. The other two probably also involved underage consumption of alcoholic beverages. But if we had rinsed our cups, or run the dishwasher, even those instances would have gone without notice.

But I have a sneaking suspicion that Jim, Jr. used me as a convenient excuse on more than one occasion...well beyond these few, minor infractions.

Now I am happy to have helped out a friend. And I think, after all these years, you will agree that I've turned out ok. But Mr. & Mrs. Humbert, if you are reading this, more often than not, it WASN’T me!

Today we found out the sex of our child. But before I tell you what it is, I think it is important to note that at this stage, about 21 weeks, our daughter is perfectly healthy and she is due to be born about the first of June. Did I just do that? Well, I hope most of you at least picked up the clue.

Yes, Mandy and I are having a little baby girl. We are very happy. Queenie is most excited because it will bring more balance to our houselhold. Apparently, if it was going to be a boy, King and Jack had a plan of complete domination. Anyway...

Although we have a good idea as to what name we will be giving our daughter we do not plan on sharing that information at this time. Consequently, we are still open to suggestions. If you would like to take part in the naming of her, please leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Monday Doctor Visit

Mandy and I went to the doctor on Monday, but nothing really happened. We finally got to meet an actual doctor and not a nurse or a nurse practitioner or the friend of a friend of a nurse. He's a nice guy and basically told us everything is going great.

The official due date is June 4th but that may change as there is another sonogram scheduled for January 21st. It's in that visit that we may find out the sex of the baby. But don't get your hopes up because we have been told numerous times that due to recent law suits concerning bad boy/girl information, they may not tell us anything unless they are very, very positive.

Anyway that's all I have for now except to thank Kevin for creating this blog. It does mean alot to us that so many people actually care about our baby.

Tax Break?

Riddle me this, what do you call someone that is due in early January, but is getting induced in three days so they can get the tax break?

As God as my witness, a close friend's friend is doing this.

WTF?!

Some kids are adopted. Some kids are not planned. But some of those kids are the most loved of all.

In hearing this story, I was as infuriated as I was amazed.

"Honey, we were going to name you form 8812. If we didn't have you, we would have had to cut a check to some homeless shelter."

Now, you could argue that Mandy is a numbers person and Jim is a words person (although he could cook, er, balance the books with the best of them). But let me be clear: this story has nothing to do with them. I offer it up for light entertainment.

I have to say the site rocks. You can sign up for customized email newsletters that track the growth of the THING (yeah, Jim called it a thing) and send you relevant content based on the age of your bouncing bambino and if you are the mother or the supposed father.

The only other piece of advice I'll give is stock up on film. Even if you buy a digital camera, buy some disposable cameras you can stash in odd places so you can take a candid shot of the little one doing something for the first time. Odds are good you won't have the camera around when little things like this occur.

Why is everyone so ebullient over this? Because it is a most excellent experience that changes everything (mostly in a great way). HUZZAH! Mandy's got a bun in the oven.
